In today’s society, social media is where people turn to for new recipes, decorating ideas, and even to hear His word. With social media being the forefront of spreading the gospel these days, it allows the enemy to use false prophets to exploit God's children. From one-on-one non-degree coaching starting around $150 to $5,000, to discipleship where “You too can heal yourself and others with my 12 week program," people are seeking a way to become healed, to be loved and to fill that void that is in their hearts. Rather than using the Bible to help these lost individuals, people are gaining a profit off His word. Whether it be childhood trauma, PTSD, mental health issues, physical illnesses, suicide, death, loss or abuse, there is one thing that we are all longing for; to be healed and unconditionally loved.
God loves us and not because of something we did or didn't do, but rather because He is our Father and He made us in His image. He knew that we needed Savior with all the pain and suffering this world has endured. It's hard to believe that there is someone who is capable of loving us unconditionally, and so deeply, that sometimes we run from the source out of fear or disbelief, we allow ourselves to listen to and believe the enemy rather than our Heavenly Father. It is imperative that those who are suffering, those who are seeking to be healed and loved, can have a place to do so without being concerned if they can afford it. God’s word and love is here for all, despite what some of these social media influencers may suggest. I believe that every church can do so by having a "crisis unit".
What would a mobile crisis team look like? How would this work?
- Have a group of individuals who are trained coaches, Lay Counselors, Licensed Counselors, a mental health certifications or a certificates in biblical coaching.
- After an assessment, this group coordinates with local mental health services to meet the needs of each individual if that person needs additional help.
- Bring church to those who need it by visiting hospitals, hospice, and women’s domestic violence shelters
- Offer one on one support whether it be in person, on the phone, or through a video call
- Offer group support at the church
- Set up a Pop-up tent near the Homeless or parts of the city that needs it the most and offer Prayer and worship (Bring the Church to the people).
- Organize with your local DCF (Department of Children and Families) and offer coaching and support for the reunification process.
